Man stabbed in stomach during attempted robbery

A man was stabbed in the stomach during an attempted robbery in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood Wednesday, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Two men in their 20s approached the 18-year-old victim on Mission Street near Ottawa Avenue around 10 p.m. and demanded he turn over his bag, Esparza said. The victim complied.

While he was handing over the bag, one of the thugs punched him in the side of his face.

The other thug then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the stomach, Esparza said.

They fled to a waiting vehicle, described as a red, 2-door older model Ford or Nissan, Esparza said. They fled southbound on Alemany Boulevard.

The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

No arrests have been made. The only description the victim could give police was that one of the thugs was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, Esparza said.
