Man stabbed in Mid-Market area apartment building

A man was stabbed while he was trying to intervene in an argument between a man and one of his neighbors in Mid-Market on Sunday, police said.

The 30-year-old victim was reportedly trying to calm down a 54-year-old man who was yelling at a neighbor inside their building in the first block of Sixth Street about 1:15 p.m., police said.

An altercation between the victim and the suspect ensued and the suspect reportedly tried to punch the victim.

The victim subdued the suspect on the floor and got up and went to run into his apartment, police said. But another altercation ensued in the hallway and, as he tried to defend himself, the victim was stabbed multiple times in the chest and knee areas, police said.

The victim hospitalized, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspect was arrested.
