A man was stabbed in the back after a 200-pound woman tried to steal the red tricycle he was hawking in South of Market on Wednesday, police said.

However, police said multiple brutal thieves ultimately failed to steal the 25-year-old victim’s adult-size three-wheeler at Natoma and Sixth streets.

The cruel encounter went down about 7:45 p.m., police said, when the 5-foot-6, 200-pound woman took the tricycle on a test ride and tried to make off with it. While the victim battled for his bike, he was punched in the back of the head several times by a second suspect, then stabbed by another one.

Not to be defeated, the victim held on to the tricycle, police said, and the women gave up and fled. The man’s wound was not life-threatening, police said.
