Man socks Safeway security guard, pilfers poultry

What a fowl crime indeed.

A man assaulted a Marina Safeway security guard Wednesday just for a little bit of chicken, police said.

The suspect walked into the Safeway in the unit block of Marina Boulevard, reportedly with two other men, about 9:45 p.m. and proceeded to steal some possibly finger lickin' good chicken.

The 50-year-old security guard tried to stop the man but the suspect punched him in the face and fled with the fowl.

The guard sustained a cut to his head, but refused medical attention, police said.

No arrests have been made. There was little description information on the suspects available Thursday.
