A man was shot multiple times when he went out for a cigarette in the Sunnydale neighborhood early this morning, police said.

Gunfire erupted at about 5 a.m. in the 100 block of Brookdale Avenue, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 46-year-old victim told police he was in the porch area when he heard the shots. He then “realized he’d been shot multiple times,” Shyy said. He's reportedly being treated at San Francisco General Hospital for injuries that are not life threatening.

There are no suspect descriptions because it appears there were no witnesses, Shyy said.
