Man shot inside Tenderloin hotel room

A man was shot in the thigh with a handgun in his Tenderloin single-room occupancy hotel early Thursday morning, police said.

Officers responded to reports of the shooting in a residential hotel on Turk Street near Taylor Street around 5 a.m., where they found the wounded man in his room. He was “very uncooperative” with police, and offered no information on what happened.

The man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a non-life threatening injury to his leg.

Officers were able to figure out his identity from the hotel’s front desk, but his exact age is unknown, Officer Albie Esparza said. He appeared to be between 34 and 40 years old.

Police determined that the shooting happened inside his hotel room where they found a spent shell casing and a live round.

No weapon has been recovered.
