Man shot in the leg after Bernal Heights argument

A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg in Bernal Heights on Thursday night after arguing with a man in a car, San Francisco police said.

The victim was walking down the 3200 block of Mission Street around 8 p.m. arguing with a 20-year-old Hispanic suspect who was in a small, black car, San Francisco Police Department spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The man in the car pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the leg. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a wound that was not considered life threatening, police said.

Officers are searching the area for any possible surveillance cameras that may have recorded the incident, Esparza said. The case has also been assigned to the department’s gang task force, he said.
