Man seriously injured after being hit, mugged 

One man is still in serious condition after a robbery and possible assault in downtown San Mateo on Wednesday night.

At 10:22 p.m., San Mateo police officers found an adult male unconscious near the intersection of South Claremont Street and Cypress Avenue. He had a head injury, but the exact cause is unknown.

The officers established that the man had been robbed by a group of four men in dark clothing who were last seen running north on South Claremont Street. It is not known what was stolen or how much the property was worth.

The San Mateo Police Department is looking for help in identifying and apprehending the suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Vince Dutto at (650) 522-7664 or the Secret Witness Line at (650) 522-7676.
