Man sentenced to 40 years in freeway killing

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for fatally shooting a man from a car during a road rage incident on Highway 101 more than two years ago.

Doyal Webber, convicted of second-degree murder in February after a monthlong trial for the Sept. 30, 2007, shooting death of 25-year-old Lon Dell Wilson, was sentenced Friday in San Mateo County Superior Court, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Nearly a dozen members of Wilson’s family addressed the court prior to Webber’s sentencing, many saying they had forgiven him and hoped he would make himself productive while in prison, Wagstaffe said.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Mohammad Rabah of Hayward, was acquitted of murder charges in February.
