Man robbed of camera while sitting in his car in Haight-Ashbury

A man’s camera was forcibly stolen from him as he sat in his car in the Haight-Ashbury on Wednesday, police said.

The 25-year-old victim was sitting in his parked car in the 500 block of Ashbury Street about 5:40 p.m. when a man who appeared to be 18 to 25 years old smashed the front passenger's window with an unknown object and grabbed the victim’s Canon camera from the passenger's seat, police said.

The victim struggled to keep his camera but the crook prevailed and fled in a black SUV, police said. No arrest was made.

The victim sustained a cut to his hand, but the injury was minor.
