Man robbed by two teens in the Mission

A man was robbed by a young man and a teenage boy in the Mission on Tuesday, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 22-year-old victim was in the area of 23rd and Mission streets about 11 p.m. when the suspects approached and simulated having a handgun, police said.

The older suspect demanded the victim’s wallet and cellphone, then both suspects fled onto a Muni bus.

Police were on scene when the robbery took place and tracked the suspects down to 19th and Mission streets, eventually arresting them and recovering some of the stolen items.

The older suspect was identified as Adrian Ortega, 19, of San Francisco. He was booked into County Jail on charges of robbery, conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Shyy said.

Ortega also had an outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.

The younger suspect was not identified because he is a minor. He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on similar charges as the adult, Shyy said.
