Man recovers iPad with good Samaritans’ help

A man robbed of his iPad on Muni recovered the popular device after two good Samaritans came to his aid, police said.

The man told cops he was using the iPad while in a light rail vehicle at Embarcadero Station around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday.

Two thieves swiped the device from his hands as the doors opened in the station, police said. The victim chased them and at one point was punched by the suspects. But the good Samaritans held the suspects, cops on scene took them into custody, and the iPad was recovered.

This was certainly not the first time a person was robbed while using a pricey electronic device in San Francisco. Just this past Friday, a 17-year-old girl was robbed of her cell phone while on a bus at Geary and Leavenworth streets. This time, the suspect, described as a 20-year-old man, successfully fled the bus and got away with the phone.
