Man questions his actions after slashing elderly woman

“What did I do?”

They were the agonizing words of a man who accidentally stabbed an elderly woman with a kitchen knife during a brawl with another man in Visitacion Valley on Sunday.

More details have come to light about the 79-year-old woman who was slashed in the arm while trying to break up the fight in a home on Hahn Street.

The spat began when a 22-year-old man who was trying to sleep asked a 19-year-old man to pipe down, according to the victims. An argument then became violent, with the 22-year-old attacking the younger man.

The 19-year-old then fled to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed the 22-year-old multiple times, including in the head and knee, police said.

The horrified elderly woman attempted to break up the fight. She wrapped her arm around the 22-year-old, trying to shield him, but was sliced in the process.

The 19-year-old then screamed, “What did I do?” and fled the area.

Police declined to disclose the relationship between the men and the woman.

As of Monday, police had not found the suspect.
