Man pushes mother out of car in Richmond carjacking

This is no way to treat your mother.

A 63-year-old woman was carjacked by her own son in the Richmond district Monday, police said.

The woman was driving in the 400 block of 17th Avenue about 4:47 p.m. with her son in the car when they got into an argument, police said.

The 40-year-old son shoved his mother out of the car and jumped into the driver’s seat and fled in the four-door green sedan.

The mother was not injured.

The son was reportedly located in Novato by local police and the California Highway Patrol later Monday night, Sgt. Monica Macdonald said.

He is reportedly in a hospital in Marin for an unknown condition, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The car was impounded, Macdonald said, and the investigation is ongoing as to whether the son will be facing any charges or not. As of Tuesday afternoon, he has not been placed under arrest.
