Man punched, carjacked by four suspects in the Richmond

A man was punched in the face and carjacked by four suspects in the Richmond early Wednesday morning, police said. One of the suspects was later arrested.

The 38-year-old victim got out of his sliver Toyota Corolla near 10th Avenue and Geary Boulevard about 12:25 a.m. and was confronted by the four men, who all appeared to be in their 20s, police said.

One suspect took a swing at the victim and missed, then a second suspect took a swing that connected, punching the victim in the face, then a third suspect got into the vehicle and drove off.

That suspect got into a traffic collision a few blocks away and fled the scene on foot, police said.

Officers arrived and located the first suspect who took a swing at the victim and missed.

The victim positively identified him as one of the men who accosted him and he was arrested.

His identity remains unknown at this time.

The victim's injuries were minor and he refused treatment at the scene.
