Man pleads not guilty in drunken driving case

A San Diego County man arrested for investigation of drunken driving three times in five days has pleaded not guilty in connection with one of the incidents.

City News Service says David Lakarnafeaux was last arrested about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sheriff's Sgt. Ted Greenwald tells CNS that sheriff's deputies responding to a report of a drunken driver in Imperial Beach found that Lakarnafeaux had walked inside a bar on Palm Avenue. He says deputies then discovered he had been arrested for the same reason twice last week.

Lakarnafeaux was arraigned Wednesday in the Imperial Beach case and ordered held on $100,000 bail.

His attorney, Jason Conge, said his client had been sober for 2 1/2 years before the series of DUI arrests.
