Man pepper-sprayed by panhandling crook in Lower Nob Hill robbery attempt

A man was pepper-sprayed in an attempted robbery by a panhandling creep in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood Tuesday morning, cops said.

The 42-year-old victim was in the 400 block of Geary Street around 11:15 a.m. when the suspect, a man in his 50s, asked the victim for change, police said.

The victim said no so the suspect grabbed the victim’s bag, cops said.

The victim turned to confront the creep and was pepper-sprayed, police said. He was treated at the scene for irritation to the face and eyes. The crook did not gain possession of the victim’s bag.
