Man pepper-sprayed, beaten and robbed in Tenderloin

A man was pepper sprayed, beaten and robbed by four men and a woman in the Tenderloin on Tuesday after he gave the woman some money, police said.

The woman in the incident, described as being in her 30s, asked the 56-year-old man for money about 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Eddy and Mason streets. The victim gave her money, but she asked for more. When he refused, she sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.

Then four men, who all appeared to be in their 40s, began punching the victim and took the rest of the money from his pocket before fleeing.

No arrests have been made.

The victim was hospitalized, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
