Man knifed in Western Addition bar fight, another shot in Bayview drive-by

Police came to the aid of two people injured in a bar-fight stabbing and a drive-by shooting early Sunday, both of whom were expected to survive the separate violent encounters.

Police spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said a 19-year-old Asian man was at the front door of a bar at Fillmore and O’Farrell streets between 1 and 1:30 a.m. when a fight broke out and he was stabbed twice in the torso.

The young man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

“He didn’t remember being stabbed, or who the suspects were,” Dangerfield said.

About 5 a.m., a 25-year-old black man was shot three times in his car at Mendell Street and Evans Avenue in the Bayview district, according to Dangerfield.

The man said he had been driving in the area when another man started firing shots toward him from a white vehicle, then drove off, Dangerfield said.

The man was hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening, Dangerfield said.

No arrests were made in connection with either case.
