Man killed in Bayview crash identified

A man who was killed when his speeding car crashed into a parked truck in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Wednesday evening has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as 42-year-old Herman Frank.

The crash happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. near Revere Avenue and Griffith Street.

A gold Saturn station wagon was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it went out of control and slammed into a parked truck, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Frank, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people in the Saturn were taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Esparza said.

No one was in the parked truck, he said.

The crash remains under investigation.
