Man injured in shooting in Outer Mission in possible attempted robbery

A man was injured in a shooting in the Outer Mission this morning in what may have been an attempted robbery, Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The victim was waiting for a ride at Camellia and Silver avenues about 7:45 a.m. when he was confronted by two men who were possibly trying to rob him, Shyy said. One of the suspects shot the victim in the upper body.

Residents in the area heard the gunshots and called police, Shyy said.

The victim was taken to the hospital, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening. But because he was hospitalized, he has not been able to give much information to police.

Based on preliminary information, it appears to have been an attempted robbery, but Shyy said the investigation is ongoing.

There was little suspect description as of Monday afternoon, Shyy said. The suspects are believed to be two men who fled in a gray pickup truck.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
