Man gunned down in East Palo Alto

A man was shot and killed at an East Palo Alto apartment building Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to 913 Tinsley St. after the Police Department's ShotSpotter system and several callers alerted authorities to gunshots in the area at about 9 p.m.

Arriving officers found a 32-year-old man who had been shot in the head lying on his back on a rear patio of the apartment building. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was standing on the patio when two or more suspects appeared and began firing at least two guns at him, striking him at least once.

The suspects then fled, running through the apartment building and out onto Tinsley Street, police said.

The apartment building was hit by several bullets, but no other injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call East Palo Alto police Detective John Norden at (650) 853-3177.
