Man grazed by bullet outside housing projects

A 21-year-old man was grazed by a bullet Monday evening near the public housing projects of the Mission district.

The victim, a black male and a resident of Sacramento, was standing in a group in front of the housing projects at Valencia Street and Rosa Parks Lane when a suspect approached them and fired on them, according to San Francisco Police Lt. Troy Dangerfield.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m.

The victim was the only one injured. A bullet grazed his head, but he refused treatment when officers arrived, Dangerfield said.

The suspect fled on foot, Dangerfield said. Police did not have a description of the suspect.

It is unknown how many people were standing in the group with the victim.

Police are asking for anyone with information in the shooting to contact the police tip line at (415) 575-5444.
