Man gets 2 years for taking teen to Mexico

A judge has sentenced a man to two years in prison for taking a 15-year-old Southern California girl to Mexico where she lived with him as his wife for nearly four years.

The Ventura judge on Monday also added eight months to 24-year-old Andrew Joshua Tafoya's sentence for violating probation in an earlier case involving unlawful sex with the same girl.

Tafoya pleaded guilty in November to a felony count of concealing a child from her parents by taking the girl to Mexico in 2007.

The Ventura County Star ( ) says the girl, who is now 19, says she is married to Tafoya and she's been living with his parents.

The girl's mother told the judge at Monday's hearing that Tafoya is a child molester and her daughter has been brainwashed.
