Man shot to death in Tenderloin

A man was killed in the Tenderloin early Thursday, Sgt. Monica Macdonald said.

The 45-year-old victim was found by police in the 200 block of Hyde Street about 12:40 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his upper torso area, Macdonald said.

He died later after being hospitalized.

The man was reportedly shot on the street by an unknown suspect, who fled before police arrived.

The victim apparently went inside a building seeking help, Macdonald said, but was discovered by police outside.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is not releasing the victim’s identity at this time.

The homicide marks the 44th in San Francisco this year.
