Man fatally shot in the Mission on Sunday identified

A man who was shot and killed in the Mission early Sunday was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as 26-year-old San Francisco resident Camilo Senchyna Beltran.

Beltran was found by police at 20th and Mission streets about 2 a.m. and he appeared to have been shot in the upper body. He died at a hospital.

Details on Beltran’s death were scant. Police said the suspect fled before officers arrived.

Beltran was killed about a half-hour before another homicide early Sunday.

In that incident, 25-year-old Berkeley resident Casey Bissell was fatally stabbed near 18th and Valencia streets in what may have been a fight. He also died at a hospital.

The two homicides brought the total in San Francisco this year to 43. Last year, there were 48 homicides.
