A black male was shot and killed Thursday evening in the Sunnydale neighborhood, but the suspects are still on the loose.

San Francisco police received a call of shots fired around 8 p.m. in the first block of Brookdale Avenue, just east of Crocker Amazon, according to Lt. Troy Dangerfield.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a male -- whose age was unknown -- shot “multiple times in the chest.” The man was the only victim and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Dangerfield said.

Police did not have a description of the suspects or know whether or not there was more than one person involved. It is unknown if the incident was gang related. It is being investigated as a homicide.
