A man was critically injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in Lower Nob Hill on Saturday, police Officer Albie Esparza said, and another victim was slightly injured by a ricochet.

The 21-year-old victim reportedly had gotten into an argument with four people inside a nightclub in the 600 block of Sutter Street some time before 2 a.m.

The four people left the club before the victim, police said. When the victim left the club about 2:08 a.m., the group of four suspects were in a silver, older-model, 4-door Mercedes and one of them got out of the vehicle and shot the victim several times, police said. The four suspects then fled the scene eastbound on Bush Street from Taylor Street.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for injuries that as of Monday afternoon were considered life threatening. A second victim, a 30-year-old male bystander, received treatment for an abrasion from a ricochet bullet, Esparza said.

The suspects were described as two men and two women in their 20s, police said. The shooter was one of the male suspects. Police had a more detailed description of him.

He was said to be wearing a black and white shirt, blue jeans and was armed with a semiautomatic handgun, Esparza said. Several nearby businesses claimed to have surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the shooting and police will be combing over that evidence, Esparza said. Police are also asking that anyone with information on the suspects in the shooting to please call (415) 575-4444 or text at TIP411 with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
