Man critically injured in robbery in Portola neighborhood 

A man was critically injured in a robbery in Portola on Friday, police said Monday.

The 66-year-old victim reportedly sustained life-threatening stab wounds to his wrist, abdomen and chest during the robbery at Goettingen and Wayland streets about 7:07 p.m. His wallet and cellphone were taken.

Police arrested two suspects in the case, Officer Albie Esparza said. One of the suspects is a 17-year-old boy and the second suspect was identified as 18-year-old San Francisco resident Deandre Gipson, Esparza said.

Both suspects face charges of attempted murder, robbery and conspiracy. Gipson faces additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Esparza said.

The victim was hospitalized with injuries considered to be life threatening, but after being rushed into surgery, his condition has stabilized, Esparza said.
