A man was critically injured in a fight in front of a corner store in Potrero Hill on Wednesday, and may lose his ear, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The fight started when three men tried to enter the building at Kansas and 23rd streets about 11:25 p.m., Esparza said. The 23-year-old victim tried to stop them and one of the suspects used a glass bottle to assault the victim.

The victim sustained numerous stab wounds to his neck face and head and his ear was severed, Esparza said. He was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Another victim reportedly sustained minor injures and was treated at the scene.

Police detained the three men, but only two were booked on charges and arrested.

Police could not reveal their identities Thursday morning, Esparza said.
