Man critically injured after being struck by van in Chinatown 

A man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Chinatown on Thursday, police said.

The 57-year-old victim was crossing the street at Washington and Montgomery streets about 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a van.

The victim was hospitalized with injuries considered to be life threatening.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, stayed at the scene after the collision and cooperated with authorities, Officer Albie Esparza said. The driver will not be cited.

The pedestrian reportedly crossed the street against the traffic light, Esparza said.
