Man busted for punching ex-girlfriend, taking cellphone

A 25-year-old woman sought shelter in a Haight Street store and called 911 after her ex-boyfriend punched her and ran off with her cellphone Friday afternoon, police said.

The woman called cops around 1:10 p.m. from a shop in the 1600 block of Haight Street.

Cops found and arrested the 38-year-old ex-lover the following day. They didn’t have to travel far. He was arrested at Alvord Lake in Golden Gate Park, an area where transients, drug dealers, and law-abiding parkgoers and joggers mix, police said.
