Man assaulted, robbed by two men in the Tenderloin

A man was assaulted and robbed by two other men in the Tenderloin early Wednesday morning, police said.

The 39-year-old victim was in the vicinity of O'Farrell and Jones streets about 1:30 a.m. when a man who appeared to be in his 30s asked the victim for money, police said. The victim said no and the man threatened him with a pipe. The victim ran away and the suspect threw the pipe at him, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.

When the victim got up, a second suspect, described as a man in his 40s, threw the victim to the ground and took cash from his wallet.

The suspects fled and were not arrested.

The victim refused medical treatment.
