Man arrested on suspicion of bike theft in the Tenderloin

Police arrested a man Monday in connection with a bike theft in the Tenderloin, Officer Grace Gatpandan said.

The suspect, identified by police as 29-year-old San Francisco resident Robert Frye, reportedly tried to take a bike by force from a 27-year-old man inside a store in the 400 block of Eddy Street about 2 p.m. Monday, Gatpandan said. A struggle ensued and Frye was reportedly able to flee with the bike.

Police arrived and said they saw Frye on the bike and arrested him, and the bike was returned to the victim.

Frye was booked into County Jail on charges of burglary, grand theft, receiving stolen property and a probation violation, Gatpandan said.
