Man arrested in Emeryville for allegedly stealing taxi in San Francisco

A man was arrested in Emeryville after reportedly stealing a taxicab in San Francisco early Sunday.

Zacharias Solteronelson, 23, of Sacramento is alleged to have gotten into the cab at First and Harrison streets about 12:10 a.m. and struck the driver in the face and threatened to shoot him, police said. After the driver got out of the cab, Solteronelson then reportedly drove away over the Bay Bridge.

California Highway Patrol officers pulled him over at the Powell Street exit on Interstate 80 in Emeryville, CHP Officer Sean Wilkenfeld said. Solteronelson violently resisted arrest, according to police, kicking and punching the officers.

He was turned over to the San Francisco Police Department and booked into County Jail on charges of carjacking, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.

The cabdriver sustained only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
