Man arrested in Castro nightclub shooting to return to court

A man arrested in connection with a shooting outside a Castro-area nightclub on Aug. 7 is scheduled to be back in court Friday for a preliminary hearing, Assistant District Attorney Alex Bastian said.

Jason Hill, 33, of Oakland faces a felony charge of negligent discharge of a firearm, two misdemeanor counts of firearm possession, one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a firearm and a misdemeanor count of vandalism.

Hill and two others were arrested after an altercation with another man turned physical outside a nightclub near 18th and Collingswood streets in the Castro area.

When the man went to flee the scene in his car, Hill is alleged to have fired into the vehicle. The victim was not struck or injured by gunfire.

The two others arrested in connection with the incident are not facing charges but prosecutors are seeking to revoke the probation of one of them.

Hill is currently in custody on $430,000 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

He will return to court Friday at 9 a.m., Bastian said.
