Man arrested in burglary of occupied Inner Sunset home

Police have arrested a suspected burglar who reportedly broke into an Inner Sunset home and stole a purse while the residents were home Wednesday night, Sgt. Eric O'Neal said.

The 35-year-old male victim and his family were upstairs at their home in the first block of Judah Avenue about 7:20 p.m. when a neighbor rang their doorbell and told the resident he saw a man enter their home and then leave with stolen items.

The suspect reportedly grabbed a purse and cellphone from a room downstairs and fled, police said.

The male resident chased and caught the suspect and detained him until police arrived.

Police arrested the man, identified as San Francisco resident Alfonzo Loza, 31, in the area of 5th and Parnassus avenues and booked him on charges of burglary and receiving stolen property, O'Neal said.
