Man accused of snatching Chanel glasses worth $750 off woman’s face in court

It's a case of blind justice. A suspect in the vicious attempted robbery of a 30-year-old woman’s prescription Chanel glasses in Pacifica is due in court Thursday.

Oscar Robles, 21, faces felony theft and assault charges after he allegedly punched the woman repeatedly outside Winters Tavern around 1:50 a.m. July 13, authorities said.

The victim was with friends when Robles, a man she’d never seen before, snatched the $750 pair of glasses off her face and started running, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

The victim chased him, demanded the glasses back, but Robles “started punching victim in face, knocking her to the ground,” Wagstaffe said. She suffered facial bruises and cuts, he said.

A good Samaritan who witnessed the attack subdued Robles until cops came, Wagstaffe said.

Robles, who remains in custody on $50,000 bail, was due in court for the superior court review conference Thursday afternoon.
