Man accused of indecent exposure in San Mateo apartment building laundry room

A 37-year-old San Mateo woman who only wanted to wash her clothes was reportedly exposed to a very dirty sight last Wednesday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Ignacio Martinez, 40, of Daly City is alleged to have climbed into an apartment building's laundry room through a window Feb. 19 and masturbating in front of the woman who was there washing her clothes.

The victim pulled out her phone and Martinez reportedly fled the scene, prosecutors said. When police arrived, Martinez is alleged to have run from them before hiding in a storage room of another building, where he was apprehended.

Police said he was under the influence of drugs and that he had a meth pipe on him.

Martinez reportedly had entered the laundry room to steal clothes, prosecutors said.

Martinez plead not guilty Friday to felony charges related to indecent exposure, burglary, drug possession and paraphernalia, and resisting arrest, prosecutors said Monday.

He was appointed a public defender and will return to court March 5. Martinez is currently in custody on $150,000 bail.
