Man accused of attempted robbery of San Carlos Shell gas station turns himself in

A man accused of trying to rob a Shell gas station in San Carlos last week turned himself in on Monday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

Shane Connolly, 31, of Redwood City, turned himself into the Sheriff's Office about 11:22 a.m. Monday morning after reportedly attempting to rob the business in the 1000 block of El Camino Real about 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 26, police said.

By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene in a white, 2-door pickup truck with black rubber trim and a tool box in the bed. Sheriff's deputies believed it was either a late 80s or early 90s Chevrolet.

Connolly was booked into San Mateo County Jail on attempted robbery charges.
