Man, 74, charged with 7 bank robberies in Calif.

Federal authorities have identified a 74-year-old Nevada man as the "Fedora Bandit" and charged him with robbing seven banks in Northern California.

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner said Wednesday that David Griffith Osborne of Carson City, Nevada was charged with seven counts of armed bank robbery.

The federal complaint says Osborne robbed banks in Grass Valley, Gridley, Kings Beach, Rancho Cordova, Paradise and South Lake Tahoe between December 2009 and June 2010.

Officials say he faces up to 25 years in prison for each felony count.

Prosecutors say Osborne also robbed a bank in Carson City in April 2010.

Osborne has been in federal prison in Santa Barbara County since October, serving a three-year federal sentence on a drug trafficking charge.

No court date has been set for the new charges.
