Made for soap opera: Newlyweds, knife and handcuffs

A Tenderloin woman was arrested for attempted murder after attacking her new husband with a knife in a jealous rage on Sunday, police said Friday.

The Hyde Street couple had been married for seven months, but the woman thought her hubby was cheating after he came home from a night of boozing with pals.

After laying down on the bed to rest, the husband opened his eyes to his wife standing above him with a knife in her hand, police said. She lunged at him, and he managed to dodge the knife, which she thrust into the mattress. The couple struggled for the knife while she screamed, “I’m going to kill you if you don’t tell me the truth,” police said.

The husband won possession of the knife and chucked it out of the room, but then his wife fetched another knife, police said.

“At one point she broke a glass in an attempt to use it as a lethal weapon,” police said.

The husband fetched a pair of handcuffs in the closet and cuffed his wife before calling police.

Responding cops said several neighbors heard the commotion and confirmed hearing the wife say she planned to kill her husband.

The woman was booked for assault with a knife, attempted homicide and domestic violence, police said.
