Lowell out for redemption

The Lowell softball team will be looking for revenge when it takes on Oakland Tech in Game 1 of the three-game TransbaySeries today at 3:30 p.m. at Lang Field. The Bulldogs swept the Cardinals last year on the way to their first title since the series began in 1978-79.

Lowell (20-3) is led by an offense that averaged 12.5 runs per game this season, and the Cardinals went 17-1 against conference foes on their way to the San Francisco Section title. The team had 19 hits in a 13-12 victory over Lincoln in the final, with Sophia Chen chipping in four (including the game-winner), Samia Zuber three and Rubye Chu two. Zuber, a senior, and sophomore Alina Werth split the pitching duties.
