Look out for new ‘No Smoking’ signs

New “No Smoking” signs will be going up soon around businesses, informing patrons of the new smoking ban that went into effect in April. The Board of Supervisors expanded a smoking ban prohibiting businesses from allowing patrons to light up in outdoor smoking areas, including ATM lines, ticket lines and outdoor smoking areas at bars and restaurants.

Businesses will be required to post the signs at the buildings’ entrances. The Department of Public Health is currently working to revise the required wording for the new signs. Until that’s done, the department won’t be enforcing the new sign laws, according to the Office of Small Business.
