Lindsay Lohan shocked by slammer sentence

Lindsay Lohan was shocked and felt “blindsided” by the 120-day jail sentence she’s been slapped with, sources told TMZ. The starlet is said to have described her plight as “ridiculous.”

The actress is reportedly planning to appeal her sentence for probation violation while also fighting the charge she stole a necklace. She spent five hours in custody Friday before being freed on $75,000 bail.

LiLo also will have to spend 480 hours doing community service.

“She is angry because she has been working so hard on turning her life around,” a producer pal told People magazine, saying Lindsay is sober. “She didn’t do what they said she did. She didn’t steal that necklace.”

On the plus side — relatively speaking — the judge reduced the grand theft charge to a misdemeanor. In court, La Linds’ long-suffering lawyer acknowledged that she left an L.A. boutique wearing a pricey necklace and didn’t return it right away, but challenged the prosecution to prove her client’s “specific intent to permanently deprive the store of that necklace.”

The attorney argued, “The fact that she may not have been a courteous or considerate person doesn’t make her a thief.”

Yikes — if that’s the defense strategy, we’re a little nervous for Lindsay.

Wedding Bells

Since her surprise wedding to Eddie Cibrian on Friday night, LeAnn Rimes has (not surprisingly) taken to Twitter to gush about the joys of married life.

“Eddie and I are overwhelmed by the amount of lovely well wishes. We are blessed and.... I’m Mrs. Cibrian!!!!!” the country singer tweeted. “So wonderful to wake up as husband and wife.”

Though the couple told friends they were invited to an engagement party at a private California home, People magazine reported, they wed “surrounded by their closest family and friends,” a rep said. An insider said Eddie gave a toast in which he joked, “We’ve both had much larger weddings before, about 100, 150 people both, but we just wanted our closest of friends and family here with us tonight. The next one will be ever smaller, though. We’ll just keep paring it down!”

Call us old-fashioned, but is it really good form to joke at your second wedding about your first one — much less your next one?

Mel: No Discrimination

Mel Gibson is speaking out about the infamous recordings of his argument with then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, in which he was heard making vicious racial slurs.

“I’ve never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality — period,” the “Beaver” star told Deadline.com. “You have to put it all in the proper context of being in an irrationally heated discussion at the height of a breakdown, trying to get out of a really unhealthy relationship,” the actor explained.

Well, sure, people say things they don’t mean during arguments … but they don’t usually turn racist all of the sudden.
