Liberals sickened by Osama death celebrations; Glenn Beck hires a marching band

Bin Laden is dead, so should citizens of the United States have taken to the streets as they did to celebrate?

Several liberal writers suggest that our national behavior demonstrated on television yesterday was the wrong response.

"Indeed, an America that once carefully refrained from flaunting gruesome pictures of our victims for fear of engaging in ugly death euphoria now ogles pictures of Uday and Qusay’s corpses, rejoices over images of Saddam Hussein’s hanging and throws a party at news that bin Laden was shot in the head." wrote David Sirota at Salon.com in his column titled 'USA! USA!' Is the Wrong Response

Petula Dvorak of the Washington Post compared the celebration scene at the White House to spring break, calling it "a raucous celebration right outside the White House gates that was one part Mardi Gras and two parts Bon Jovi concert" and stated, "It felt a little crazy, a bit much. Almost vulgar."

It's fair to say that they would have disapproved Glenn Beck's response to the news, as he celebrated with cookies, confetti, and a marching band or rocker Katy Perry's celebratory tweet.
