Legislators to hold oil spill hearing in Emeryville

With more and more news spilling out about the response to the Cosco Busan accident, state legislators are gathering in Emeryville this morning to hear from officials about the effort.

Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, and Assemblywoman Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley, will convene an emergency oversight hearing to assess current conditions and the extent of the damage.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. and run to 1 p.m. in the Emeryville City Council Chambers.

A competing news conference will take place at 10:30 a.m., when the National Transportation Safety Board will release further findings from its investigation into the incident and response.
