The mayors of San Francisco and New Orleans are locked in serious negotiations over the terms of a friendly bet on this weekend’s playoff football matchup between the 49ers and Saints.

Mayor Ed Lee said Monday he’s prepared to offer up Dungeness crab, Ghirardelli chocolate, sourdough bread and maybe some regional wine in the event of a 49ers loss. Lee said he might be interested in some famous Big Easy crawfish from New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, although he’s still waiting to hear back.

Lee said he also might propose something “quirky” that would require the two mayors to visit each other’s city.

“It’ll be something that will cause he and I to go to the other’s city down the road and somehow reflect who won and who didn’t,” Lee said.
