Last call after alleged booze thief’s arrest

A South Beach district restaurant might finally catch a break following the arrest last week of a man who police say smashed the eatery’s windows four times since July 9 and stole more than $7,000 worth of alcohol.

On Aug. 2, police said, 40-year-old parolee John Fradet was allegedly caught in the act during a police sting at the restaurant in the 500 block of Second Street, which is less than two blocks from AT&T Park.

He was taken into custody without incident, police said, and video surveillance helped connect Fradet to three previous burglaries that occurred at the eatery between July 9 and July 23.

The restaurant endured a total $33,000 in losses after all four burglaries, police said.

Fradet, who is on parole for burglary, was booked on four counts of commercial burglary and remained in custody Friday.
