Larceny in numbers: Gang of goons roughs up, robs two men in Mission

Two men were threatened and one of them was punched in an attempted robbery in the Mission district Monday night, police said.

The two victims, ages 19 and 20, were walking near 24th and Folsom streets about 8:45 p.m. when they were confronted by a group of thugs, police said. The thugs demanded one of the victims’ cellphones and money, and one punched a victim in the head and knocked him to the ground.

That victim was able to stand up and retain his possessions before fleeing with his friend, police said. Later, he realized he had a cut below his left ear. He went to a hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made.
